2017 Educational Seminar

Join us on September 22nd and 23rd in Dallas, Texas for the 2017 FAE Seminar, kindly hosted by Dallas Auction Gallery located at 2235 Monitor St, Dallas, TX 75207. Appraisers, scholars, students, and collectors are all welcome to attend. The Seminar will feature a diverse group of presentations by experts in art, antiques, luxury, collectibles, and estate management. Looking for funds to attend? The Decorative Arts Trust is offering a $500 Scholarship to the September 2017 FAE Seminar in Dallas, Texas. This Scholarship is open to those appraisers who have five years or less experience as a professional appraiser. The deadline for 2017 applications is August 15, 2017 and application information is available on the FAE website. 2017 SEMINAR SPEAKERS Dotting the I’s and Crossing the T’s in Charitable Contribution Appraisals, PATRICIA H. ATWOOD Patricia H. Atwood ASA is principal of Timely Antique Appraisals LLC in Rockford, Ill. She has also been Member of Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council at Internal Revenue Service since January 2015. Ms. Atwood is an accredited senior appraiser in the field of Personal Property and the owner of Timely Antique Appraisals, LLC. She serves on the Appraisal Standards Board of The Appraisal Foundation and teaches principles of valuation courses for the American Society of Appraisers (ASA). She was on the ASA International Personal Property Committee and president of the ASA Chicago Chapter. Ms. Atwood holds a B.A. from Cornell University, an M.A. from Columbia University and an M.A. from Princeton University. The Decorative Arts Trust. Now Accepting Applications!

The Decorative Arts Trust is offering a $500 Scholarship to the FAE Seminar in Dallas, Texas September 22-23, 2017. Deadline for Receipt of applications is August 15, 2017. The winner will be announced August 31, 2017. The Decorative Arts Trust Application Form (PDF)  This scholarship is for appraisers who have been working five years or less as professional appraiser. Applicants must complete the application form and submit to Katy Alexander by August 15, 2017. Scholarship recipient will be required to submit a report of 250-500 words describing his or her experience from the FAE Seminar and the likely impact on his or her professional goals. Scholarship recipient will be required to send three high resolution digital photographs taken during the seminar and showing the recipient’s participation in the program. The $500 scholarship will cover the cost to attend the seminar ($395) as well as an additional $105 in travel expenses such as a hotel or flight. Winterthur Institute 2017. Now Accepting Applications!

2017 Session: September 11–22, 2017 Winterthur Institute Application Form (PDF) The Foundation for Appraisal Education honors Wendell Garrett (1929-2012) who provided significant contributions to the education of appraisers at the Winterthur Museum. Wendell was a member of the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture Class of 1957. He was also the editor of The Magazine Antiques, a senior VP at Sotheby’s, and one of the original Antiques Roadshow appraisers. His historical perspective of all things antique was world renown. The following Wendell Garrett scholarships are available (2016-2018) to graduate students and professionals with less than five year’s experience in the field, without a requirement for association with the appraisal field and may be found on Winterthur’s site. Winterthur Institute (2016-2018) – $1,000 per year. Furniture Conferences & Study Symposiums (2016-2018) $500 per year. Yearly alternating Conference and Study Symposium held in spring of each year.
